These drawings are part of the project a stone is a stone is a stone, which I started developing at the artistic residency Skammdegi AiR, in Ólafsfjörður, Iceland.

Fifteen small stones collected in the fjord are the trigger for a series of drawings, made in India ink. Can a stone become something beyond itself? An island? An organ? A reminder of an existence that outlives ours? The series of portraits unfolds into new drawings, larger drawings – seas of stones. What previously had a defined contour, shadow and breath, now squeezes and pushes itself to fit the paper.

In addition to these drawings, the video a stone is a stone is a stone is also part of the project.
